How to Help

Check these websites for information on how you can help victims of Hurricane Katrina:

To send quilts

C&T Publishing
C&T Publishing, a leading publisher of how-to craft books, has donated $10,000 generated from the proceeds of their recent warehouse sale to the American Red Cross to aid in the hurricane relief effort. In addition, C&T has also volunteered to collect and ship quilts to Katrina refugees. All quilts will be sent to Houston’s Quilters Comfort America program.

Quilters Comfort America
This two-part project started by the International Quilt Festival calls for donations to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and for quilts and other bedding to be distributed to Katrina refugees. Details are available at:
www.quilts.com/

Quilts for Katrina
This group of quilters has created a weblog where you can pledge to make a quilt for the hurricane victims.

American Quilter's Society
The American Quilter's Society is acting as a repository for quilts to be donated to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Quilts will be received at their Paducah, KY warehouse, then shipped out to disaster areas as requested by aid groups. Please send completed bed quilts and baby quilts. Do not send quilting supplies, wallhangings, or unfinished quilts. Send quilts to:
AQS Quilters to the Rescue
c/o American Quilter's Society
5801 Kentucky Dam Road
Paducah, KY 42003

Optional AQS Quilters to the Rescue quilt labels will be available as downloadable PDF files from the www.AmericanQuilter.com website.

For those wishing to send monetary assistance, AQS suggests donating money to NOVA (National Organization for Victim Assistance), an organization which provides long-term assistance on many levels. Check the website at www.trynova.org or call 703-525-NOVA for more information, or send checks to NOVA, 510 King Street, Suite 424, Alexandria, VA 22314.
