Every year for Christmas, my entire childhood, I asked for a sewing machine, and every year, I found myself disappointed. It didn't help that my mother was a seamstress. She only wanted something better for her daughter, and for her, that didn't include sewing.
I finally got my first sewing machine when I was 19 as a Christmas gift from the man who is now my husband. If he could go back in time, I have no doubts that he would warn himself against it, informing him of the massive fabric stash that would take over his home. I learned to sew while I was in college, and made feeble attempts at creating things for several years. This past year, I have joined the local quilt guild, and made a more concerted effort to learn how to quilt. I am about to start a brand new chapter in my quilt life. I love my Pfaff Smart 200c that I have been quilting with, but, I'll be starting an affair with a Singer 201-2. It was love at first sight. I will still be seeing my Pfaff, as the Singer is a straight stitch machine. |
